From MrBeast Employee to Rising YouTube Star: Athan Wright on Storytelling & Social Media as Art
Athan Wright, a senior at Duke University, has dedicated himself to YouTube since his freshman year, spending four hours daily honing his craft. Formerly an employee for MrBeast, Athan is deeply immersed in the world of content creation, viewing YouTube not just as a platform but as a modern medium for self-expression and storytelling.
His journey includes filming campus dorm tours, documenting his life abroad in Japan, and even creating a mini-film within the video game Skyrim. Athan's creative approach blends authenticity, discipline, and an artistic perspective, highlighting his belief that social media can be a form of modern-day art.
Beyond his technical skills as a cinematographer, editor, and marketer, Athan excels in storytelling, romanticizing everyday experiences to connect with audiences. His time in Japan profoundly shaped his worldview, offering fresh perspectives on societal norms and personal freedom.
Athan's passion lies in balancing creativity with authenticity, staying true to himself while navigating the challenges of content creation in a highly saturated landscape. Through his work, he aims to inspire others by sharing relatable yet artfully presented narratives that resonate across cultures and communities.
Personable is a podcast dedicated to helping listeners become the best they can be by learning from the world’s best in their respective fields. This mission is inspired by my mother, Louise, who encouraged me to become the best version of myself before she passed away from cancer in 2023.
